Welcome to the BTF weight loss and wellbeing project

By taking part in this 12-week programme you will be joining others in our thyroid community to understand more about the science behind weight management and thyroid disorders.

To help you achieve your weight loss goals safely and over the long term, you will receive expert guidance from professionals who work in the fields of endocrinology, science, nutrition, exercise and psychology.

We will ask you to share your progress with us over the 12 weeks, for example, by inputting your weight and activity levels. This will help you monitor your own progress and assist us to learn more about what works for you. It will also give us information that can be used to benefit other thyroid patients in the future.

How it works:

1. Questionnaire

The first step to getting started is to complete our questionnaire. This asks a few questions about you and your health. If you have had thyroid function tests done recently, please have the results handy as one of the questions will ask you for them. We also ask you some questions about your quality of life and how much exercise or activity you currently manage on a regular basis. At weeks 4, 8 and 12 we will ask you a few more questions to monitor your progress.

Don’t worry, all the data you share will be held securely. You can also use this data to remind yourself of your progress. Simply click on the ‘My progress’ button on your screen to access this.

2. Your weekly email

Once you have completed the questionnaire, we will send you an email at the start of each week with a reminder to input your weight. You can also tell us about your progress, e.g. what has gone well for you during the week, whether you found some things a bit harder, or how your mood has been.

The email will give you a link to access the new resources for the week. It will include articles and films from our experts, and details of webinars you can register to join or watch in your own time. You’ll also be able to revisit any previous weeks’ resources and view patient stories at any time.

3. Your data

Your personal information will be stored securely. It may be shared anonymously with the researchers who are working with us for the purpose of this project or used in publications or presentations at scientific conferences. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time and, if you ask us to, we will delete the details you have shared with us.
